Being Nominated

Over 90 interested filmmakers responded to the call for the 2014 Film Prize. 56 projects, successfully submitted according to the regulations, were forwarded to the jury, amoungst which are eight animation, 28 documentaries and 20 short fiction projects. Filmmakers from Germany applied with joint film ideas together with their team partners from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and the Ukraine.

On December 4 and 5, the jury met in the Berlin Representative Office to discuss all submissions. The jury was especially convinced by the elaborated and well presented project ideas, which made it not easy to select the only twelve projects for the next round.

Finally, after two days of intense discussions, the jury nominated three animation projects, five documentaries and four short fiction projects, which will now compete for the 2014 Film Prize.

From January 26 to 29, 2014 the selected teams were invited to the Nominee Forum taking place in the Berlin Representative Office. In several workshops the young filmmakers got prepared for the pitch to the jury during the goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden in April 2014. At goEast’s official award ceremony the jury announces the three prizes worth up to 70.000 € in each category.
