Germany and the Arab World

In October, 2015 the fifteen teams were nominated, who are now competing for the three prizes. The award ceremony will take place in the frame of Berlinale Talents on February 14, 2016.

The Robert Bosch Stiftung awards three Film Prizes for International Cooperation between young German and Arab filmmakers. The prize, worth up to 70,000 euros, is awarded in the categories short animation, documentary (short or feature length), and short fiction film. Young filmmakers in the fields of production, directing, camera, and screenwriting are given an opportunity to explore the methods and creative styles of their partner country.

The three Film Prizes will be awarded at a gala during Berlinale Talents in Berlin. Up to two members of each winning team will have the opportunity to participate as guest at Berlinale Talents in the following year. Berlinale Talents is also represented in the jury.

Eligible are joint production teams of young filmmakers from an Arab country (one of the 22 members of the Arab League) and Germany. The filmmakers should be in the beginning of their carreer. Applications must be made by teams, not individuals. The film should be produced in Germany as well as the partner country, stressing in particular the aspect of intercultural exchange.
